BEATS

FROM YOUTH TO STUDIO BOOTHS AND EVERYWHERE IN BETWEEN, I'VE BEEN A STUDENT OF SAMPLE-BASED PRODUCTION. THAT OBSESSION HAS GUIDED MY HAND AND MOLDED MY EAR, INSPIRING ME TO CROSS GENRE LINES TO FIND THE PERFECT SOUND.

WHO IS CROSSFADER?

Who We Are

CrossFader blends culture and creativity through records, art, and community. We curate and create with a music-first mindset, so every project feels connected and real. Whether it's something you spin, hang, or experience in person, the goal is the same: help people connect with the music that moves them.

Where We Come From

CrossFaderLA is a family rooted in Los Angeles — not just as a place, but as a way of life. I'm Mario, the founder, and I grew up in LA. My wife grew up in Wilmington, CA. Our sons grew up in Inglewood. This city shaped all of us in different ways, and that influence runs through everything we do at CrossFader.

My wife and I both spent decades working in retail management — 33 years in the industry for me, 28 of those in management roles. That background gave us a deep understanding of operations, customer experience, and what it really takes to build something people trust. Our sons brought their own perspectives: one graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Sociology, the other from Stanford with a degree in the Arts. Between the four of us, CrossFaderLA is built on community, culture, and a whole lot of lived experience.

Rooted in the Music

Making beats is how it all started — and how the records started stacking up. Mario has been producing since 1994, with a deep love for turntablism and the culture around it. He'll get on the ones and twos when the moment calls for it, though he's the first to tell you he's more beat-maker than DJ. What he is, without question, is a serious music fan with wide-open ears.

The crates were never limited to one lane. Hip-hop, funk, rock, punk, classical, Latin, electronic, country — if it had a groove worth sampling or a record worth digging for, it had a place in the collection. That cross-genre curiosity is baked into CrossFaderLA's DNA. We don't sort music by what's expected. We sort it by what moves you.

The name says it all. A crossfader doesn't pick sides — it blends. That's exactly how we approach music, curation, and community.

Vinyl Thoughts Podcast

Mario and his sons co-host the Vinyl Thoughts Podcast — a music-first conversation covering records, artists, and the culture happening right now. No genre gatekeeping, just honest talk about music that matters. New episodes drop regularly, and every one feels like a session worth sitting in on.

What We Do

We source, curate, and sell vinyl records spanning genres, eras, and moods. From rare finds to essential classics, every record in our catalog is chosen with intention. Beyond the shop, we take the experience directly to the community — hosting 5 to 6 pop-up events every month across the LA area. Whether it's a neighborhood block, a local market, or a curated event space, we show up and bring the music with us.

How We Do It

With a music-first mindset and an eye for quality, we approach every record, every event, and every collaboration the same way — with care. We don't chase trends. We dig for what's real, what resonates, and what lasts. That means getting quality records into your hands at a price that makes sense. We aim for VG+ as our standard and VG as our floor. We keep it honest — every once in a while a VG- slips through the cracks, and when it does, we call it out. No inflated grades, no surprises. Just real records at reasonable prices. That's the CrossFader standard.
